Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Vice President of Hockey Operations Ian Herbers announced today that the team has signed rookie right wing Nicolas Bachand.
“Nick brings a physical element to the team. When I came to Johnstown, I made it a priority to bring some toughness and grit to our lineup that will compliment some of our veteran skill players. Nick is part of that physical factor that we will have this season,” said Herbers.
Bachand, 21, appeared in 48 games last season with the St. John’s Fog Devils of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League where he had 13 goals and 12 assists along with 128 PIM. The 6’1, 170 LBS native of Laval, Quebec began his junior in the 2004-05 season with the Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) where he was a teammate of Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby and former Chief Zbynek Hrdel. In 173 career games in the QMJHL, Bachand scored 41 goals, 38 assists and 410 PIM
