Johnstown, PA- The Johnstown Chiefs announced today that they have signed rookie left wing Alexandre Imbeault (Im-Bol) and defenseman Vincent Zaore (Zor-AY).
Imbeault, 21, played in 39 games last season for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Chicoutimi Saugeens where he had 27 goals and 57 points. The 6’0, 170 LBS native of Montreal, Quebec spent the last two weeks with the AHL Providence Bruins where he scored two goals in two exhibition games.
Imbeault played most of his QMJHL career with Victoriaville. His rookie season was with the Quebec Remparts. In 245 QMJHL games he had 90 goals and 208 points.
Zaore, 21, played 70 games last season for the QMJHL’s Victoriaville Tigers scoring 4 goals, 24 points and 139 PIM. The 6’2, 210 LBS native of Ste-Foy, Quebec, played in five seasons in the QMJHL four with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles where he was a team mate of Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury. In 294 career QMJHL games, Zaore had 9 goals, 57 points and 442 PIM.
The Chiefs open up the 2007-08 season on Thursday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m. when they host the Wheeling Nailers. Opening Night promises to be one of the most exciting nights in team history as both the Chiefs and ECHL celebrate their 20th anniversary season. The first 2,000 fans will receive a commemorative 20th anniversary puck. The first 1,000 children will receive a Chiefs 20th anniversary dog tag. There will be numerous other giveaways throughout the evening and the Stanley Cup will be present!
